Absolutely not, We respect everyone’s privacy and will never take any photos or videos of our events or any of our participants.
How do you sign up?
You fill out the form on the page on this website that is titled “Sign Up.” By doing so, you join our waitlist. Once it’s your turn to join an event, we will reach out to you via instagram or email.
Singing up on this page does NOT guarantee that you will be part of the next event.
How exactly does it work?
The evening will start with a 30 minute period where everyone will sign in, be given a nametag with their name and age, and have their beverages made (a coffee or tea is included), At 7:30pm, the speed dating portion of the evening will begin! We start with 12 men sitting across from 12 women, a couple at each table. Every 5 minutes we will announce that it’s time for the men to move to the next seat, Each man will rotate for 12 rounds, 5 minutes each, this way all 12 men get to talk to all 12 women.
Can you make the conversation times longer?
No because the event is already pretty mentally demanding. You’re having 12 5-minute conversations with strangers, getting to know each other as much as you can to see if there’s a connection. That’s 70 straight minutes of socializing with pretty much no break!
Plus, after the speed dating portion of the evening is over, we stick around for 30 more minutes to allow for more mingling to take place, specifically if there is someone that you met that you want to talk to longer, or to ask for their information to continue getting to know each other.
Can you make the conversation times shorter?
No, because any shorter of a conversation won’t allow for enough time for people to get to know each other and feel a connection. We’ve never had participants asking for less time, which we take as a good sign!
Why this speed dating setup and not a mixer?
When it’s a mixer, not only do you not get guaranteed time to talk with every viable person there, but there’s also an added pressure for one person to approach the other. We find our participants prefer our setup, where a conversation is guaranteed with every viable person there.
Do you screen participants beforehand?
The only screening we’re doing is checking that they are within the correct age range, and making sure it’s a real person on the other side and not a bot.
Can we order any of the delicious items on Urartu Coffee’s delectable menu?
Unfortunately not. Considering the fact that there are 24 participants to serve in 30 minutes and only one barista, using the espresso bar would take too long and delay the start of the evening, so we offer regular coffee or tea only.
